Robert Ransley
Bio: Robert Ransley, best known in the world of art, as Bob Ransley, is America's premier "colorist". He uses color is ways that most of us might not envision. As an example, no one has ever seen a cow with a purple flank. In Bob Ransley's world of art, that would not be uncommon. The most amazing thing is that it not only works, it is most pleasing to the eye and satisfying to the mind's eye! Bob has been asked; "Why so many different colors?" He responds; "When I see a creature, whether its a sea turtle or a hippo, it's not just a few colors I see. It takes sometimes a touch of this or that basic color mixed together (or even five or six colors mixed together) just to get the EDGE of the body of the animal, much less the rest of the image. As light plays across the animal's skin it changes in color. More colors are needed to accomplish and capture what I see there". Many artists can accomplish so much with just a few colors.
